Our Impact

The Giving Circle of Alexandria

Giving Circle of Alexandria logoThe Giving Circle is a diverse group of women who are invested and engaged in their community. They believe that confronting the City’s high priority issues collectively and strategically is the best means to inspire social change. With an annual matching grant of $25,000, ACT has helped The Giving Circle increase their membership and impact around early childhood education. In 2009, ACT and The Giving Circle co-invested in a city-wide playgroup initiative to expand a collaborative playgroup model around the City.

ACT & Compass Strategy Project Grant Application Now Online! Information Session on May 12th.
ACT is partnering again with Compass to provide strategy project grants to Alexandria nonprofits.

Join us at our information session on May 12th to learn more about this partnership and how you can benefit from a Compass grant!

Compass strengthens the capacity, effectiveness and sustainability of nonprofit organizations through pro bono strategic consulting. Compass recruits mainly MBA graduates from top business schools as volunteers for the consulting projects which run September through May. Compass offers three main service lines that all expose nonprofit leaders to valuable, re-useable management best practices: Board Development, Funding Strategies, and Strategic Alignment.  This year, Compass has added a 2-year Strategic Planning option.

Come hear about these grants from Suzanne Laporte, executive director of Compass and Bonnie Baxley, executive director of Community Lodgings and 2-time Compass grant recipient.

May 12th at 9:00 a.m. at ACT - 1421 Prince Street, Suite 400, Alexandria, VA.
